Fishy in the Bahamas

I (and others) met recently with various members of the Bahamian
Government, in Ft. Lauderdale. They expressed serious concern
over what they believe to be over fishing. While they said
that probably the greatest US offenders were fast power vessels
in the 25 to 35 foot range, they expressed concern about everyone.
As you may know, there was recently a total ban on any taking
of Nassau Grouper. Some of the officials said that this ban
may be longer next time. They said that they're working on
additional enforcement. We should all be sure when we cross
the stream that we have the latest information on what we
can and cannot take in the waters of the Bahamas, and what
we are allowed to bring back into the US. Penalties for violations
could be severe.
